Are you a Kansas college student considering a career in broadcasting?

If in the fall you’ll be entering your junior or senior year at a Kansas four-year college, or your sophomore year at a Kansas two-year college, and are enrolled in a broadcast program, you may qualify for a scholarship from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. All applications are accepted via email and the deadline is May 1st.

Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet these criteria:

  • Kansas resident
  • Attending or planning to attend (next fall semester) a Kansas post-secondary institution (two-year or four-year college or vo-tech/trade school). If attending a four-year college, applicant must be entering their junior year or above; if attending a two-year school, applicant must be entering their sophomore year
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in a broadcast or related curriculum
  • Enrolled in at least 12 hours each semester the scholarship is in effect
  • Grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
  • Completing an application signed by college broadcast department head certifying the applicant meets the eligibility criteria.
  • Previous KAB scholarship winners are eligible.

Selection Criteria
Financial need may be considered; applicants are asked to indicate how their college education is being funded. Judges will consider depth of thought, clarity of expression and commitment to broadcasting as primary. Extracurricular activities, community involvement and legibility also will be considered. Submit one letter of recommendation from a college professor, broadcaster and/or other business person.

Application Procedure
Complete the online application form (see link at bottom of page). The application must be completed by midnight May 1. Judges will screen the applications to determine who will receive a personal interview. The Scholarship Committee will personally interview up to ten applicants in late May and make their selections in early June.
