This is something that has been known for a while, but a popular makeup store is saying goodbye to one store and heading to another later this year.
Sephora has been a staple in malls across the country. They are also located in many JCPenney locations. But, that is all about to change. As we went to the Topeka store the other day, my wife was looking for a certain shade of powder. One of the nice employees came up to us and asked if we needed any help. She mentioned that she was looking for a certain number. They didn’t have it out anymore on the display table, and the employee said that it is possible they are not sending any more new stock of certain items because Sephora is leaving that location and moving to Kohl’s.
I decided to look into it and sure enough, that is 100% true. Here is the link to the article and a quote from it:
Kohl’s and Sephora unveil list of first 200 locations that will have the immersive beauty experience by Fall 2021
The list is here! Kohl’s and Sephora are thrilled to share the first 200 locations* that will feature the all new Sephora at Kohl’s – the ultimate beauty shopping experience coming to a neighborhood near you this fall. Conveniently located at the front of the store, the fully-immersive, premium beauty destination will be designed with 2,500 square feet of dedicated space – creating the perfect spot for you to discover more than 100 carefully curated beauty brands.
As of today, the Topeka location has not been announced as one of the stores that will move to Kohl’s down the street. But, this is a huge boost to a retail giant that already has a partnership with Amazon.
I am a huge fan of JCPenney. My fear is that it could be a sign of the store liquidating more and possibly closing more stores in the future. That would also be a huge blow to the mall in Topeka.
