Become A Volunteer Driver for the Road To Recovery Program

The American Cancer Society is in need for more volunteer drivers to transport cancer patients to treatment. This program of volunteer drivers is referred to as the Road To Recovery program, where cancer patients receive free transportation to and from their treatments.

Becoming a volunteer driver for the Road To Recovery program, could make all the difference in someone’s life, just by giving them a ride. Even if you found time in your schedule to be a volunteer driver for one day would be greatly appreciated by the American Cancer Society and patients.

According to the press release there is only 10,000 Road To Recovery program drivers nationally, and every year 15,300 residents just in Kansas will be diagnosed with cancer. More volunteer drivers are highly needed. The American Cancer Society does screening and trains every volunteer driver. The organization works with your schedule and how many rides you are able to give and then they coordinate the rides with the patients.

According to the press release all drivers must have:

  • A current, valid driver’s license
  • A good driving record
  • Access to a safe and reliable vehicle
  • Regular desktop, laptop, or tablet computer access
  • Proof of car insurance
