Downtown St. Patrick’s Day Events and Closures

Below is all of the information you need to plan your St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Topeka!

Irish Fest 5K
Date and Time of Closure: 3/16/2019 6:30 AM
The 5k route will be contained within the parade closure area and will be – start/finish line at 8th & Jackson, south to 10th, left at 10th, left at Kansas, left at 6th, left at Jackson, right at 8th onto the Statehouse grounds sidewalk, left on the sidewalk at Harrison, left at the entrance drive at Harrison towards the Capital building, turn left on the south side of the Capital building toward 10th, turn left on 10th using the sidewalk, run straight onto 10th and repeat steps 2 thru 10 for the second lap, turn right at Jackson to the rightmost lane and finish at 8th and Jackson.

This event is within the Parade route closure area.

St Patrick’s Day PARADE Events
Date and Time of Closure: 3/16/2019 7:00 AM
Date and Time to Open: 3/16/2019 3:00 PM
Parade staging area will be on Kansas Ave from 1st to 4th and will open at 9:00am – ALL PARADE ENTRANTS WILL ENTER FROM 1ST & KANSAS ONLY – the parade route will be 4th & Kansas south to 10th (in the northbound lane on Kansas) west to Jackson, north to 4th.

St Patrick’s Day Street Party Event
Date and Time of Closure: 3/16/2019 5:30 PM
Date and Time to Open: 3/16/2019 10:00 PM
SW 8th between S. Kansas Ave & SW Jackson will be closed to all thru traffic during event hours

Mater Dei Irish Fest Event
Date and Time of Closure: 3/16/2019 5:30 PM
Date and Time to Open: 3/16/2019 8:00 PM
SW 8th between SW Jackson & SW Harrison will be closed to traffic during event hours. SW Van Buren will be closed from 8th north to the alley as well. Access to the Capital parking will be allowed but will have lane restrictions.
